At SAAV, we never compromise on quality. That’s why all insulated glass units (IGUs) for our doors and windows are manufactured as standard with the TPS Thermo Plastic Spacer (TPS) – a modern “warm edge” solution that significantly improves energy efficiency, comfort, and durability of the frames.
What is a TPS spacer?
TPS is a homogeneous thermoplastic spacer made of polyisobutylene with integrated desiccants. It combines the functions of a spacer, sealant, and moisture absorber in one product, providing excellent adhesion to the glass, minimal permeability, and high mechanical stability. The result is a reliable, long-lasting insulated glass unit with optimal thermal performance.
Benefits of IGUs with TPS spacers:
- Higher energy efficiency – the low thermal conductivity of TPS significantly reduces heat loss at the edge of the glass unit, improving the overall U-value of the window or door.
- Reduced risk of condensation – higher interior glass temperatures limit moisture formation and prevent mold.
- Improved sound insulation – the thermoplastic material absorbs vibrations, contributing to a quieter indoor environment.
- Durability and long lifespan – resistant to temperature changes, wind, moisture, and UV radiation, without loss of performance over time.
- Design flexibility – suitable for large sizes, non-standard shapes, and modern architectural solutions.
- Reduced thermal stress on glass – compared to metal spacers.
Choosing TPS as a standard spacer is further proof of SAAV’s commitment to providing high-quality PVC and aluminum frames that meet today’s standards for energy efficiency, comfort, and reliability.
